The energy of being my “own boss”, and the fun of being at events started this crazy path of entrepreneurship.

I really wanted to create an inclusive community for girls and women. Circa 2001 when people were just starting to test out chat rooms (remember those days of Yahoo chat?) I was creating an online community for women – called the Martini Lounge.

It was such a success that I was nominated for a prestigious Women of Distinction Award.

Those necklaces, bracelets, and anklets turned out to be a pretty big hit and my family showed support by taking me to fairs and setting up my booth. I managed to pull in hundreds of dollars in sales which, in 7-year-old terms, was like being a multi-millionaire! That was my first taste of success at creating and running a business, as well as gaining a glimmer of insight into what it takes to be a businesswoman. The entrepreneurial bug bit me hard and I’ve been going strong ever since.
